Diablo 4’s Season 11 is shaping up to be one of the most transformative updates the game has seen since launch. After weeks of intense PTR feedback and extensive developer commentary, Blizzard has announced sweeping class balance adjustments that fundamentally reshape the endgame meta. Every class is being buffed by the equivalent of 5 to 10 Pit tiers, Melted Heart of Selig is being reworked from the ground up, and—perhaps the most impactful change of all—damage caps across multiple systems are being removed entirely.
Season 11 launches on December 9, and if you’re wondering which classes rise, which fall, and what you should actually play when the season begins, this deep-dive breaks down the entire picture.
The Big Picture: Two Huge Changes That Affect Every Class
Before looking at individual class performance, two global changes define Season 11’s power curve.
    1. Pit Tier Scaling Is Being Reduced
Developers have confirmed that overall monster scaling in the Pit is being adjusted. Practically, this means every build in the game becomes roughly 5–10 tiers stronger. What was once a Tier 100 clear on PTR may become Tier 110 on live servers.
This is a massive buff to build diversity. Underperformers get pulled upward, and even the best builds become more flexible and consistent.
For the purposes of current theorycrafting, most players are estimating around 9–10 free tiers across the board.
    2. Melted Heart of Selig Gets Fully Rebalanced
The infamous Season 10 / PTR version of Melted Heart was wildly overtuned. Classes could reach absurd resource pools—Barbarian players reported over 50,000 Fury—and that resource scaled damage far beyond intended levels.
Season 11 introduces a complete overhaul:
Instead of thousands of extra resource, it roughly doubles your current pool.
Example: 400 Fury → 800 Fury. Still strong, but no longer game-breaking.
Damage-to-resource conversion is changing from a 1:1 ratio to something more balanced (e.g., 1:10, 1:100, etc.).
This makes the item more defensive, not offensive.
This dramatically reduces inflated damage scaling on several builds, especially Barbarian and Druid.
Yet—even after the nerf—Melted Heart remains one of the strongest defensive uniques in the game, especially with Season 11 monster buffs.
    Bonus: Damage Caps Are Gone
One of the most exciting changes:
No more Ramaladni’s Magnum Opus cap
    No more Hydra Serpentine cap
    No more Ancestral Guidance cap
No more weird, hidden internal ceilings
This opens the door for significantly better scaling and more build expression across all classes.
    Class-by-Class Breakdown
Barbarian: Strong, But No Longer Meta King
Barbarian was one of the biggest abusers of the overpowered PTR Melted Heart, so its Season 11 position shifts the most.
    Hammer of the Ancients Barbarian
PTR HOTA Barbarian hit Tier 125 thanks to insane Fury scaling.
After losing access to 50,000 Fury:
Ramaladni’s loses ~17 tiers of scaling
Furious HOTA loses even more, due to scaling per 10 Fury
    Total loss: ~35 tiers
Add back the +10 Pit buff → ends around Tier 100
Still strong. Still viable. Just not the monster it was on PTR.
    Lunging Strike Barbarian
This build was already strong without relying heavily on Melted Heart.
Loses ~17 tiers from the resource change
Gains 10 tiers from the global buff
    Lands at Tier 103–104
    But here’s the wildcard:
If players can sanctify Adaptability onto Melted Heart, Lunging Strike could become:
    → Tier 107–108, possibly higher.
This might elevate Barbarian back into S-tier territory.
    Other Barbarian Builds
Mighty Throw – stable, mid-high performance
Leap Barbarian – now insane for speed farming with new Chain Scourge Pants
Barbarian Verdict – still strong but no longer dominant
    Overall Barbarian Verdict:
Strong, diverse, but no longer the clear strongest class.
Druid: Still Great, Especially Cataclysm and Pulverize
Druid relied heavily on resource scaling, but not as much as Barbarian.
    Cataclysm Druid
PTR clears hit Tier 106 with massive resource pools.
    After resource nerfs:
    Loses ~16 tiers
    Gains ~10 tiers
    Ends around Tier 100
If Ancestral Guidance remains uncapped, Cataclysm could reach even higher.
    Pulverize Druid
Everyone’s favorite (or least favorite) meta build persists:
With bug fixes + global buffs, Pulverize again clears Tier 100+
It remains one of the safest and most reliable builds in the entire game
    Other Druid Builds
    Shred – excellent speed farming
Boulder – viable but not top tier
    Storm builds – mixed performance
    Overall Druid Verdict:
Upper-middle tier, with multiple 100+ clearing builds.
Necromancer: One of Season 11’s Biggest Winners
Necromancer enters Season 11 in arguably its strongest overall shape yet. Because its PTR builds didn’t abuse Melted Heart, it’s gaining pure power from the global buffs.
    Shadow Blight Necromancer
    PTR clears hit Tier 105.
    Add 10 tiers → Tier 115.
Strong, reliable, consistent. A top-tier pick.
    Golem Necromancer (Grave Bloom Unique)
A brand-new build that hit Tier 100 on PTR despite suboptimal optimization.
    With Season 11 buffs:
    → Tier 110+ and rising.
A new summoner meta is here.
    Bloodwave Necromancer
No longer as explosive as Season 10 Chaos Perks
    Still comfortably clears Tier 100+
    Overall Necromancer Verdict:
One of the best classes in Season 11.
Great build diversity + multiple S-tier options.
Sorcerer: Crackling Energy Takes the Throne
Sorcerer maintains its identity as the speed-farming champion while also gaining insane damage potential.
    Crackling Energy / Lightning Spear
PTR clears were already Tier 105 without Melted Heart.
    Add 10 tiers → Tier 115+.
No nerfs. No caps. No hidden adjustments.
    Just raw power.
    Oculus Perma Teleport
Still in the game. You lose weapon damage multiplier, but:
    If you’re clearing Tier 115
You don’t need the multiplier for Torment speed farming anyway
This preserves Sorc’s identity as the fastest, smoothest class to play.
    Other Sorcerer Builds
Frozen Orb – reaches around Tier 100
Hydra Sorcerer – huge buff thanks to serpentine cap removal
Ice builds – strong but overshadowed by Crackling Energy
    Overall Sorcerer Verdict:
Extremely strong with excellent build variety and best-in-class speed.
    Spiritborn: Nerfed, But Still Strong
Spiritborn had several multiplicative bugs on PTR:
    Primary Eagle aspect double-dipping
    Loyalty’s Mantle functioning multiplicatively
    Squared damage values
Evade hitting a 65× multiplier instead of ~6×
    All fixed.
    Evade Spiritborn
    After bug fixes:
    Loses 9–11 tiers
    Gains 10 from global buff
    Ends at Tier 108
Still tanky. Still fast. Still top tier.
Even if Tammerity gets tuned, it remains very durable.
    Other Spiritborn Builds
All of these were unaffected by Melted Heart and therefore gain pure power:
    Touch of Death
    Crushing Hand
    Rod of Keeple
    Quill Volley
    Rake
    Payback builds
Most hit Tier 100+ with ease.
    Overall Spiritborn Verdict:
Still one of the best and most flexible classes in Season 11.
Rogue: The Sleeper Winner of Season 11
Rogue underperformed on PTR, but here’s the twist:
Rogue didn’t use Melted Heart at all.
    Meaning:
    No nerfs
    Pure buffs
    No resource dependency issues
Full benefit from +10 tier scaling
    Death Trap Rogue
    PTR: near Tier 100
    Season 11: Tier 110
A huge jump. Rogue is poised to surprise many players.
    Heartseeker Basic Builds
Also viable. Great single-target scaling and solid survivability with proper setups.
    Overall Rogue Verdict:
Quietly powerful. Possibly the sleeper S-tier class of Season 11.
Final Tier List: Season 11 Class Rankings
    S Tier (Pit 110+)
    Shadow Blight Necromancer
    Golem Necromancer
    Crackling Energy Sorcerer
    Evade Spiritborn
    Death Trap Rogue
    Lunging Strike Barbarian
These builds push extremely high Pit tiers with comfort and consistency.
    A Tier (Pit 100–110)
    HOTA Barbarian
    Cataclysm Druid
    Pulverize Druid
    Quill Volley Spiritborn
    Rake Spiritborn
    Crushing Hand Spiritborn
    Hydra Sorcerer
    Bloodwave Necro
    Frozen Orb Sorcerer
    Mighty Throw Barbarian
Strong, competitive, able to clear all content.
    B Tier (Pit 90–100)
    Everything else.
Still playable, still fun, but no longer part of the high-end pushes.
    Unanswered Questions Before Launch
    Several major unknowns remain:
    1. Can offensive aspects be sanctified onto Melted Heart?
If yes, multiple builds could skyrocket into absurd scaling territory.
    2. What is the final damage-to-resource conversion ratio?
This determines whether Melted Heart becomes mandatory for defense or more situational.
    3. Are more balance passes coming in early December?
Blizzard teased a final dev update right before launch.
    4. Expansion 2 at The Game Awards?
A new class announcement is heavily speculated and would overshadow all current meta talk.
