My volume one is already full. Anyone else having this issue yet? I have just about content apart from ESW 3 and ESW 5 and my wizard stack is already over full. They’re all sleeved but I’d assumed there’d be more room. I hope a volume 2 comes out with ESWA 4 otherwise it’s not going to fit haha. I’m pretty sure I read that this would be future proof too.
Good news for you. Vol. 2 (called Egregious Ephemera) was released at GenCon last month. We are all anxiously awaiting it to hit the Cryptozoic store. It doesn’t come with as much stuff as Vol. 1, but it solves the issue you’re having.
From what I’ve seen the new box is for tokens, ability tiles and other stuff. I don’t think it’s for additional wizards, familiars and spellbooks. I might remove the wizards from ESW1,2,4 and 6. No idea where I’ll place them threw as they don’t really fit in the tome of defecation and I through the original boxes away 😂
Wasn’t the tome of defecation supposed to contain all 6 spell crafting games?
Also I’m quite interested in how the thing looks inside and is supposed to look. Can you share some pictures? All the photos I find online show the thing closed and in slipcaseThe Tome doesn’t contain any ESW games – it’s just a storage solution to hold them all (including dividers for the six that currently exist). There should be space to hold some Champion Wizards, but I haven’t tried them in that spot because I filled it up with lots of tokens and standees and stuff. I was also expecting Egregious Ephemera to have the same layout as MMM, but I won’t complain! I’ll figure out another solution.
I’ll try to remember to post some pics of the inside of the Tome tomorrow (it’s past midnight and I have to teach high schoolers in the morning 😝).That’s my bad – I interpreted contain as “include” but you meant “store.”
The lid/cover is magnetic and folds back to reveal two compartments – a large one with three card wells and a smaller space above or to the right, depending on how you orient the box. The large portion can store two games per row, sleeved, with space for one of the included tuck boxes as well. Not all the games have the same number of cards, and I found that the two largest in card count (ESW1 & 2/3) were a little too tight to comfortably fit together in one trough. ESW4 & 5 are a little smaller than the first three, and 6 is even smaller (it replaces Dead Wizard cards with Dead Wizard Tokens), so I paired them up as 1/6, 2/5, and 3/4 with a tuck box in each row that holds various tokens. The tome includes a divider for each game. I used two different colored sleeves for each game, for reasons I can explain if anyone is interested, but don’t be confused by that – look for the dividers to see where the games are split.
In the smaller side/top compartment I store the standees, MTDs, all the dice (overkill), the fourth tuck box, and two foam blocks (I can’t recall if it came with a third that I put elsewhere). There’s space to store Champion Wizards where I have the standees. The instruction books can’t fit in that section but they sit nicely on top of the cards.

And i am curious about your two-color system for the sleeves. Is it just that the spell cards have one color and the treasure/dead wizard/etc cards have another?

That’s a good guess, but no, I actually have all the Treasure and Dead Wizards cards in clear sleeves. Here’s my color system reasoning:
My friends and I like to mix-and-match game decks; in fact, we usually just put them all together into one massive deck. But now that the game has expanded so much and game-specific effects (blood, MTDs) can get watered down, I wanted a system that allowed smaller sets to be mixed and then easily separated after play. This led to the opaque colored sleeves.
Another factor with my friend group is that we sometimes exceed the recommended player cap (we’ve played at 8+ gamers). To simplify card draws, we make two decks, one for either end of the table. But I didn’t want the luck of the shuffle to dictate that one side of the table hoarded all of a certain card, so I split every game deck into two. There are two copies of every spell component (until the newest KSE spell with Anarchy at the Arena), so I placed one copy of every component in each deck, making two identical master sets. Since I would like to keep this as an option, I decided to sleeve every game in two different colors, one for each half. For instance, ESW1 has two identical half-decks, one in black and one in white. I color-coded each game based on box art color schemes or whatever association I had for it. Thus, I arrived at 12 color-coded half-decks, easy to mix in whatever configuration I want and simple to separate after play.
One other note, in case any of my blathering helps anyone – I just purchased the Retro Champion Wizard pack from the last Kickstarter campaign on Cryptozoic’s website. That will allow me to keep ALL of the Champion Wizards together with their familiars and spell books in my Annihilageddon set, plus keep a small set of 14 duplicate Wizards in my Defecation Unification box.

Also a good idea about the retro wizard pack. Since each of the ESW games comes with 8 wizards and is ostensibly for 6 players, taking out the 2 with familiars and leaving the other 6 behind has worked out ok for now. We’ll miss Hogs The House when we play ESW of course, but… so it goes.
